Short answer: the Tribit Stormbox Blast 2. It ranks #31 of 98 boombox speakers by sound quality (rated 3.8/5) at $254.99 and is still sold new; the Sony SRS-XG500 ranks #65 (rated 3.0/5) and is discontinued, so it is only an option used. The Sony SRS-XG500’s replacement, the Sony ULT Field 7, is rated 3.2/5 at $448.99.
The Tribit Stormbox Blast 2 is the better-sounding, deeper-bass option. Pretty deep bass. Its bass reaches about 40Hz before falling 10dB, against 49Hz for the Sony SRS-XG500. The tradeoff: Sounds quite muddy with the boosted lower and upper bass.
The Sony SRS-XG500 is the lighter choice. 30 hour battery life; 10-min quick-charge gives 3 hours. At 12.3 lbs (5.6 kg) it weighs noticeably less than the Tribit Stormbox Blast 2 at 19.2 lbs (8.7 kg). It supports LDAC Bluetooth, which the Tribit Stormbox Blast 2 lacks. It links with other speakers (Party Connect up to 100 speakers), which the Tribit Stormbox Blast 2 cannot. The tradeoff: Thuddy upper bass, not as deep bass as others.
Buy the Tribit Stormbox Blast 2. It is rated higher for sound quality; the Sony SRS-XG500 is no longer sold new.

Pros: Pretty deep bass. Measured bass extension of 40Hz (-10dB).
Cons: Sounds quite muddy with the boosted lower and upper bass. Boosted treble around 6kHz. Xbass mode makes it sound even more muddy. Nowhere near as neutral and balanced as the first Blast and a big downgrade unless you only care about max volume
