Small

The best small size speaker with party mode is the Soundcore Boom Go 3i: $79.99 Amazon Aliexpress

Soundcore Boom Go 3i ranking card

Pros: IP68 rated (full submersion + dustproof). ~24 hour battery life. RGB light strip syncs to the music. USB-C port doubles as a power bank for charging your phone.

Cons: Sounds a bit piercing and metallic. Bass knocks a little bit. Peak at 10khz

Setup: Try out Oluv’s EQ which slightly improves the sound

Medium

The best medium size battery powered speaker with party mode is the JBL Charge 6: $199.95 Amazon Bhphotovideo

JBL Charge 6 ranking card

Pros: Seems more neutral than the Charge 5. Flatter frequency response through the mids and treble as the Charge 5 was quite rolled off up high. Use this EQ from Joy/Oluv and turn down the lowest bass slider for the best sound quality. Oluv has even more paid EQs specifically for the GG and TL models indoors and outdoors here

Cons: Still some boosted bass by default. Mids are recessed. Bright above 2khz. Quite a V shaped frequency response.

Large

The best reasonably priced large size battery powered speaker with party mode is the Soundcore Boom 2: $89.99 Amazon Bhphotovideo

Soundcore Boom 2 ranking card

Pros: Pretty deep bass for the size. Cool lights in the side passive radiators. For the best sound quality use Oluv’s EQ or Alan Ross’s EQ. With the stock tuning, this speaker would rank around #24, due to the boosted bass and rising treble.

Cons: Only a single midrange driver, so you only get stereo for the tweeters. Sound processing issues with inconsistent bass notes that disappear at low levels like the Soundcore Boom and Soundcore Boost, not great for listening at low levels. Quite bass heavy with BassUp turned on, I’d recommend turning it off. A little bit of a bright tuning in the treble, about +5db.

Boombox

The best boombox size battery powered speaker with party mode is the JBL Partybox Encore 2: $330 Samsclub

JBL Partybox Encore 2 ranking card

Pros: Appears to have better off axis performance due to the move to dome tweeters over cone. A little less rolled off in the highs than the first Encore. Goes slightly deeper than the old Encore. Includes 2 wireless microphones. Better battery life than the first Encore.

Cons: Missing a little bit of upper bass.

Party

The best party size big party battery powered speaker with party mode is the JBL Partybox 330: $617.66 Amazon Bhphotovideo

JBL Partybox 330 ranking card

Pros: Handle and wheels are convenient. Customizable lightshow. Removable battery. Slightly more power than the 310 and Stage 320 (280W vs 240W). Adds an optical TV input and USB-C lossless playback, plus dual mic and guitar inputs for karaoke and live sets.

Cons: Sound quality is nearly identical to the 310 and Stage 320 despite the power bump, so probably not worth an upgrade if you already own either of those. Removed the dedicated mic gain and microphone control knobs found on the 310/320. Some people don’t like the new lightshow design. Very large. Note, JBL daisychain is not compatible with any other non-JBL speaker and is possibly a fully digital signal.
