Every Soundcore Speaker Ranked

This page lists all 29 Soundcore speakers ranked on this site, each showing where it places in its category. Soundcore is Anker’s audio brand and is portable-only here, with no home speakers or subwoofers.

Soundcore competes on price, and wins more often than it should. The Motion 300 and Motion+ both place in the top three of a 133-speaker medium class while costing about $80. At that price the competition is mostly speakers that measure far worse.

The recurring theme: excellent hardware, indifferent stock tuning. This is the single most useful thing to know about the brand. Soundcore repeatedly ships drivers and enclosures capable of top-of-class performance behind a DSP tuning that is not. Our notes on the Motion 300 record that without EQ it is heavily rolled off in the treble and would rank around #50 instead of #2. The Motion+ would sit around #25.

The practical consequence is that a Soundcore is a very good buy if you will load an EQ preset, and a mediocre one if you never open the app. Every speaker here whose ranking depends on EQ says so in its cons, with the reviewer’s preset linked. If you want a speaker that sounds right out of the box without touching anything, that is an argument for a different brand.

Other patterns. Soundcore’s DSP sometimes misbehaves at very low volume, with bass thinning out as the level drops — noted on the Boost and Boom lines. PartyCast is Soundcore’s multi-speaker pairing and, like every such system, will not talk to other brands.

Many of the speakers below depend on an EQ preset to reach their ranked position. All the published presets are collected on the EQ presets page.

Pros: Pretty deep bass for the small size. Pocket size in a big pocket. Can be used in stereo facing you, or omnidirectional lying down. Ability to have a custom EQ for each orientation, standing, lying flat, hanging. Try the Uboom L EQs from Oluv for a more neutral sound.

Cons: Without the above EQ or turning the top 2 treble EQ bars to max, this speaker is very rolled off in the treble and will rank around #50 in the rankings. Bassup mode is worse than Signature. Not quite as detailed or neutral as higher ranked speakers. Slight bass distortion when turned up.

Pros: Looks to be designed as a direct competitor to the Charge 5 with a very similar sound profile, warm tuned with boosted bass. Better value for the money than the Charge 5.

Cons: Not quite as good as a Charge 5, doesn’t go quite as loud or sound quite as balanced, but very very close. An earlier firmware version had some bass distortion, update your firmware in the Soundcore App

Soundcore Boom 2 ranking card

Pros: Pretty deep bass for the size. Cool lights in the side passive radiators. For the best sound quality use Oluv’s EQ or Alan Ross’s EQ. With the stock tuning, this speaker would rank around #24, due to the boosted bass and rising treble.

Cons: Only a single midrange driver, so you only get stereo for the tweeters. Sound processing issues with inconsistent bass notes that disappear at low levels like the Soundcore Boom and Soundcore Boost, not great for listening at low levels. Quite bass heavy with BassUp turned on, I’d recommend turning it off. A little bit of a bright tuning in the treble, about +5db.

Soundcore Motion X600 ranking card

Pros: Firmware 4.2.9 is a big improvement in sound quality over previous releases. Try this Oluv EQ for the best sound quality

Cons: Stock frequency response is wavy. Use spatial mode for best sound quality. Need a different EQ for each volume step. Dip in the upper bass around 120hz. Rising frequency response, treble a little hot. Would be ranked around #20 without the Oluv EQ. Even with the Oluv EQ the bass isn’t very deep and the sound is still a little unnatural.

Ranked #3 of 133 in Medium Size Portable Bluetooth SpeakersSoundcore Motion+: $80 used, Discontinued Amazon

Soundcore Motion+ ranking card

Pros: The previous best sounding in class, still a great speaker with separate tweeters, more bass at full volume and better off-axis treble frequency response than the Uboom L. Just okay with the default EQ, I highly recommend using this EQ setting from r/kai7895 to get it more neutral. To achieve the absolute best sound you’ll need the Wavelet app (Android only) and set the provided Wavelet EQ in there too. Turn off the wavelet EQ for outdoor use. An alternative is Oluv’s EQ which only needs the Soundcore app EQ.

Cons: Not quite as neutral or detailed as the Uboom L. Without the above EQ, this speaker will rank around #25 in the rankings. Discontinued.

Ranked #44 of 68 in Boombox Size Portable Bluetooth SpeakersSoundcore Motion Boom+: $140 after $40 coupon, Discontinued Amazon

Soundcore Motion Boom+ ranking card

Pros: 80W stereo from dual 30W woofers + dual 10W tweeters with titanium drivers for treble clarity. 13,400mAh battery for 20 hours (12-15 at high volume). IP67 waterproof, floats, rugged build inspires confidence. Bluetooth 5.3 multipoint pairing, Soundcore app EQ, PartyCast 2.0 mode. USB-C input, USB-A output for powerbank.

Cons: Default presets are all warm sounding with rolled off treble. Will need a custom EQ to get closer to neutral. A shrill sounding 6khz peak comes out when volume is above about 60%. Not much deeper bass than a Motion Boom and a lot less deep bass than other speakers in the class. Discontinued.
