#48 Andover Audio FreePlay: $379 Amazon $379 eBay
Pros: A waterproof hi-fi style portable with true stereo drivers and a 24 hour battery. Two 5.25 inch aluminum woofers, two 25mm dome tweeters and a 160mm rear radiator gave AV Nirvana spot on vocals, punchy bass and highs that never fatigued over 13 days. It has IP67 sealing, Bluetooth 6.0 LE Audio, a mic input, a 45W USB-C power bank and a wireless charging pad.
Cons: AV Nirvana heard a sharp bass rolloff that lost the deepest layers of some tracks, and estimated it about 6 dB down at the 55Hz Andover claims. There is no app or adjustable EQ, only a Loud Mode. At 9 lb with a fold down handle whose soft pad can roll off when carried, it is heavier than most speakers meant for hiking. Andover does not publish amplifier power, and salt water needs rinsing off.
