Auracast is the exception on this hub: it’s not one brand’s proprietary system but an open Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG) standard built on Bluetooth LE Audio, so an Auracast speaker from one brand can, in principle, join a broadcast started by an Auracast speaker from another. In practice most manufacturers still gate the feature behind their own app, and a handful of “Auracast” implementations - Ultimate Ears’ PartyUp on the MINIROLL, for instance - are locked to same-model broadcasts despite running on Auracast underneath, so cross-brand compatibility is worth confirming per pair rather than assumed from the name alone.

Cons: High priced. Some bass boost. A hole in the mid-upper bass which can’t be EQ’d out. Default EQ presets are weak (Signature is boring, Chill and Vocal are close to unusable) - needs the custom EQ to sound its best. Bigger and heavier than the Xtreme 4.

Pros: Much wider, more consistent off-axis dispersion than the JBL Partybox 720, which only fires forward - the Marshall’s standout feature, sounding about the same from any angle.

Cons: Not as deep bass as the JBL Partybox 330 or JBL Partybox 720. Not a great frequency response overall, with some midrange peaks. Only basic bass/treble controls, no full custom EQ like the JBL Partybox 720’s app. Default bass (dynamic mode) is overdone out of the box and needs trimming.
