Short answer: the S95, and the Blast 2’s own review argues against itself. It ranks #24 of 71 boombox speakers at $157.41; the Stormbox Blast 2 ranks #22 at $300, $143 more, and our notes call it nowhere near as neutral and balanced as the original Blast, a big downgrade unless you only care about max volume.
The Blast 2 sounds muddy with boosted bass at both ends, made worse by its own Xbass mode, plus a boosted treble around 6kHz.
The S95 has real flaws of its own, a rolled-off top end and clarity that isn’t as good as better speakers, but it isn’t being measured against a well-regarded predecessor it fails to live up to.
Buy the S95 for the lower price and the higher ranking. Buy the Blast 2 only if raw max volume is the single priority, and check the original Stormbox Blast first regardless.
