Looking for the best sealed subwoofer? Sealed boxes trade maximum output for a shallower roll-off, a smaller cabinet, and better transient behavior, which is why they dominate music systems and apartments. These picks are drawn from the 97 large, 137 medium and 42 small powered subwoofers ranked on this site, all measured with CEA-2010-A.
CEA-2010-A is a standardized burst test: how loud a subwoofer plays each bass frequency before distortion becomes audible. It’s the only spec here manufacturers can’t inflate, and every pick below is chosen on it.

A sealed box rolls off at 12 dB per octave below its tuning point, where a ported box drops at 24 dB per octave below tuning. That gentler slope is the whole argument for sealed:
It works with your room, not against it. Small and medium rooms add bass gain of roughly 12 dB per octave as frequency drops. A sealed sub’s natural roll-off is close to the mirror image of that curve, so the in-room response often ends up flatter than a ported sub’s without any correction.
Better transient response. Ported boxes store and release energy at their tuning frequency, which shows up as group delay. Sealed subs stop when the signal stops. On kick drums and bass guitar that difference is audible.
Smaller and easier to place. A sealed cabinet is typically half to two-thirds the volume of a ported one with the same driver.
The cost is output. In the 20-35 Hz band a ported sub with the same driver and amplifier will beat a sealed one by 3-6 dB. If you want the absolute deepest movie bass per dollar, read best ported subwoofers instead.
Pros: Published CEA-2010 specifications list 119.8 dB at 20 Hz and 130.9 dB (avg of 3/4 bands) through 40-80 Hz. The sealed enclosure with 3x 15” (381mm) driver has the headroom for demanding film bass in a large room.
Cons: The 596.9H x 787.4W x 698.5D mm cabinet and 104.3 kg mass make this a serious placement and moving commitment. A sealed cabinet still needs careful placement and calibration to avoid room-mode peaks.
