Both lean into boosted bass, but our notes describe the results differently. The Boombox 3 Wifi is, according to our notes, the loudest speaker in its class, and it improves slightly on the non-Wifi Boombox 3’s frequency response, though it still carries boosted bass and a dip around 160Hz. The Stormbox Blast 2’s notes are harsher: our notes describe it as sounding quite muddy from boosted lower and upper bass, with a further peak around 6kHz, and call it nowhere near as neutral and balanced as the original Stormbox Blast, useful mainly if raw max volume is all you care about. Its Xbass mode makes the muddiness worse rather than better, and our notes point to a custom EQ from Alan Ross as a fix.

The Stormbox Blast 2 wins on battery, EQ flexibility, and physical inputs. It runs 30 hours on a charge against the Boombox 3 Wifi’s 24, includes a 10-band EQ the Boombox 3 Wifi lacks entirely, and adds two 6.35mm microphone inputs for karaoke or live use. The Boombox 3 Wifi counters with Wi-Fi connectivity for multi-room and firmware features, plus a couple pounds less weight.

Everything else is close: both are IP67 rated, both hit around 110dB max volume, both support USB power bank charging, and both use SBC-based Bluetooth without a companion app for EQ control on the JBL side.

Buy the Boombox 3 Wifi if sound quality matters most. It measures better despite its own bass boost and remains the louder of the two.

Buy the Stormbox Blast 2 if price and battery life matter more, and you’re willing to dial in the EQ our notes recommend to tame the muddiness.
