The Tribit Stormbox Pro ranks higher than it (#46 vs #75 of 175 medium speakers, 3.7/5 vs 3.4/5) but is discontinued, so only consider it used; the Sony ULT Field 3 is still sold new at $208. The Tribit Stormbox Pro’s replacement, the Tribit Stormbox Max, is still sold new.
The Tribit Stormbox Pro is the better-sounding option. 24 hour battery life (60% volume, XBass off); doubles as a power bank. It keeps a wired aux input, which the Sony ULT Field 3 lacks. The catch: Bottom woofer was fixed in a later firmware, upgrade for best sound.
What the Sony ULT Field 3 does well: IP67 rated, dustproof and water resistant. It supports LDAC Bluetooth, which the Tribit Stormbox Pro lacks. It links with other speakers (Party Connect up to 100 speakers), which the Tribit Stormbox Pro cannot. It plays in stereo from a single unit, unlike the Tribit Stormbox Pro. The catch: Sounds a bit hollow, a bit boosted in the treble.
Buy the Sony ULT Field 3 if you want one new; the Tribit Stormbox Pro is discontinued, so only look for it used.

Newer model: the Tribit Stormbox Max, estimated 3.8/5, released Sep 2026. It adds party mode and AAC, but drops aptX. Water resistance goes from IPX7 to IP68. See every Tribit Stormbox generation.
