Last updated: October 5, 2026

Short answer: the Minirig 4. It ranks #7 of 164 medium speakers by sound quality (rated 4.3/5) at $229.95 and is still sold new; the Tribit Stormbox Pro ranks #46 (rated 3.7/5) and is discontinued, so it is only an option used.

Minirig 4 vs Tribit Stormbox Pro

The Minirig 4 is the better-sounding, louder pick. Modular, can easily attach a subwoofer. Alan Ross Reviews measured it at 106dB at full volume, against 99dB for the Tribit Stormbox Pro. At 1.2 lbs (550 g) it weighs much less than the Tribit Stormbox Pro at 2.2 lbs (980 g). The catch: Calls itself splash resistant and has no official water rating.

The Tribit Stormbox Pro is the tougher choice. 24 hour battery life (60% volume, XBass off); doubles as a power bank. It is rated IPX7 against Splash resistant for the Minirig 4. It supports aptX Bluetooth, which the Minirig 4 lacks. Watch for: Bottom woofer was fixed in a later firmware, upgrade for best sound.

Buy the Minirig 4. It is rated higher for sound quality; the Tribit Stormbox Pro is no longer sold new.
