The Soundcore Boost “upgraded” 2021 is the better-sounding, lighter option. A very neutral good sounding inexpensive small speaker with quite deep bass for the size. At 1.3 lbs (590 g) it weighs much less than the Tribit Stormbox Pro at 2.2 lbs (980 g). It plays in stereo from a single unit, unlike the Tribit Stormbox Pro. The catch: Slight DSP tuning issue which makes bass get lighter at times at very low volumes, examples in oluv’s video.
The Tribit Stormbox Pro is the longer-running choice. 24 hour battery life (60% volume, XBass off); doubles as a power bank. It is rated for 24 hours of battery against 12 for the Soundcore Boost “upgraded” 2021. It supports aptX Bluetooth, which the Soundcore Boost “upgraded” 2021 lacks. It keeps a wired aux input, which the Soundcore Boost “upgraded” 2021 lacks. The tradeoff: Bottom woofer was fixed in a later firmware, upgrade for best sound.
Buy the Soundcore Boost “upgraded” 2021 only if you find one used in good condition; both are discontinued, and it is the better rated of the two. For a new speaker, start with the EarFun Uboom L instead.
