The Tribit Xsound Mega is the better-sounding, deeper-bass option. Deepest bass of any medium size speaker. Its bass reaches about 47Hz before falling 10dB, against 67Hz for the Sony XB23. Alan Ross Reviews measured it at 100dB at full volume, against 95dB for the Sony XB23. It is rated for 20 hours of battery against 12 for the Sony XB23. Watch for: Single driver, not stereo.
The Sony XB23 is the lighter choice. Reasonably neutral. At 1.3 lbs (580 g) it weighs much less than the Tribit Xsound Mega at 2.2 lbs (1.02 kg). It plays in stereo from a single unit, unlike the Tribit Xsound Mega. The catch: Bass drops off a ton at high levels.
Buy the Tribit Xsound Mega only if you find one used in good condition; both are discontinued, and it is the better rated of the two. For a new speaker, buy the Sony ULT Field 1, which replaces the Sony XB23.
If water resistance matters to you, the Tribit Xsound Mega at IPX7 (brief submersion) holds up far better than the Sony XB23 at IPX4 (splashing).

Cons: Single driver, not stereo. Lack of detail. Lack of upper treble, peaky lower treble. Not great off axis. Keep in mind this speaker gives up some sound quality for deeper bass. Discontinued.
