The JBL Charge 4 is the better-sounding, longer-running choice. Doubles as a power bank for charging phones/tablets. It is rated for 20 hours of battery against 14 for the Ultimate Ears Wonderboom 4. It keeps a wired aux input, which the Ultimate Ears Wonderboom 4 lacks. It links with other speakers (Connect+ up to 100 speakers), which the Ultimate Ears Wonderboom 4 cannot. The tradeoff: 1 Oval driver.
The Ultimate Ears Wonderboom 4 is the lighter option. At 0.9 lbs (420 g) it weighs much less than the JBL Charge 4 at 2.1 lbs (960 g). Watch for: Bass isn’t as deep as the top-ranked speakers and is a little thuddy.
Buy the JBL Charge 6, the replacement for the discontinued JBL Charge 4; it is rated higher for sound quality than the Ultimate Ears Wonderboom 4.
