Short answer: the JBL Charge 6, if you are buying new. The JBL Charge 4 ranks higher than the KEF Muo gen2 (#63 vs #97 of 175 medium speakers) but is discontinued; its replacement, the JBL Charge 6, is rated 4.2/5 at $119.95 and is still sold new.

The JBL Charge 4 is the better-sounding option. Doubles as a power bank for charging phones/tablets. It keeps a wired aux input, which the KEF Muo gen2 lacks. The catch: 1 Oval driver.

The KEF Muo gen2 is the lighter pick. KEF seemed to have fixed the rolled off treble and overall balance. At 1.6 lbs (740 g) it weighs noticeably less than the JBL Charge 4 at 2.1 lbs (960 g). It supports aptX Adaptive Bluetooth, which the JBL Charge 4 lacks. It has an adjustable EQ, which the JBL Charge 4 lacks. Watch for: Lacking deeper bass.

Buy the JBL Charge 6, the replacement for the discontinued JBL Charge 4; it is rated higher for sound quality than the KEF Muo gen2.

Pros: KEF seemed to have fixed the rolled off treble and overall balance

Cons: Lacking deeper bass. Very thuddy bass. Appears to be the exact same hardware but with updated tuning. Bass distorts as volume increases, and the claimed 43Hz extension is really only audible at low listening volumes, with a few seconds of lag after volume changes. Loses most of its bass off-axis. Customer reviews are mixed, ranging from praise for detail at low volume to complaints of a boxy, hollow sound.
