The Sony XB33 is the better-sounding option. IP67 rated and lightweight (2.4 lb). It supports LDAC Bluetooth, which the Tribit Stormbox 2 lacks. It links with other speakers (Party Connect up to 100 speakers), which the Tribit Stormbox 2 cannot. It plays in stereo from a single unit, unlike the Tribit Stormbox 2. Watch for: Not very loud.
The Tribit Stormbox 2 is the lighter option. A little better sounding than the original Tribit Stormbox, less of a rolled off treble. At 1.3 lbs (593 g) it weighs much less than the Sony XB33 at 2.4 lbs (1.1 kg). It keeps a wired aux input, which the Sony XB33 lacks. Watch for: Drivers on the side, so it will have a rolled off treble listening to it face on.
Buy the Tribit Stormbox 2 if price matters most. For better sound quality, the Sony ULT Field 3, the replacement for the discontinued Sony XB33, is rated higher but costs $208.

Pros: IP67 rated and lightweight (2.4 lb). App-controlled color LED lighting, Party Connect links up to 100 speakers. ~19 hour real-world battery without lights. Measured bass extension of 50Hz (-10dB).
Cons: Not very loud. Upper bass peaks, midrange dip, upper midrange peaks, not very neutral. Speaker will not remain at max volume and will turn itself down automatically. Discontinued.
