Monoprice Monolith THX Compact Satellite vs Polk Signature Elite ES10

Last updated: October 11, 2026

Short answer: the Monoprice Monolith THX Compact Satellite. It ranks #92 of 168 bookshelf speakers by sound quality, rated 3.2/5, at $249.99. The Polk Signature Elite ES10 ranks #99, rated 3.1/5, at $199, $50.99 cheaper, which does not close the gap in sound quality.

Monoprice Monolith THX Compact Satellite vs Polk Signature Elite ES10

The case for the Monoprice Monolith THX Compact Satellite: A compact sealed satellite with a 4.5-inch coaxial driver and a 20mm silk-dome tweeter mounted at its center, THX certified and built to sit with a subwoofer crossed over at 80Hz. The catch: Bass stops at about 82Hz (-3dB) and 62Hz (-10dB), so it needs a subwoofer for any full-range use, and without one its preference score is only 3.57.

The case for the Polk Signature Elite ES10: Ultra-compact passive satellite/bookshelf speaker designed for tight spaces or surround-channel deployment. The tradeoff: Rating estimated based on measured Signature Elite siblings.

Buy the Monoprice Monolith THX Compact Satellite. It is rated higher for sound quality, and saving $50.99 with the Polk Signature Elite ES10 does not make up for the sound-quality gap.

About the ratings: the Polk Signature Elite ES10’s rating is estimated from measured siblings and predecessors rather than its own measurements, with a likely range of 2.9 to 3.3, so this verdict could change once it is measured.

Pros: A compact sealed satellite with a 4.5-inch coaxial driver and a 20mm silk-dome tweeter mounted at its center, THX certified and built to sit with a subwoofer crossed over at 80Hz. Erin’s Audio Corner measured a listening window within a 4.0dB span from 300Hz to 5kHz, a smooth predicted in-room response (0.61 smoothness) and wide, even dispersion (about 60 degrees horizontally and 55 degrees vertically), and its preference score rises to 6.56 with an ideal subwoofer. A keyhole slot makes wall mounting easy. Measured bass extension of 82Hz (-3dB).

Cons: Bass stops at about 82Hz (-3dB) and 62Hz (-10dB), so it needs a subwoofer for any full-range use, and without one its preference score is only 3.57. Sensitivity is a low 81dB into a 4-ohm load, so it needs a capable amplifier to play loud. Out of stock at Monoprice and Amazon, with Monoprice quoting a restock date well into 2027.

Features the same 1-inch Terylene dome tweeter found across the Signature Elite series for extended high-frequency response up to 40kHz, alongside a 4-inch mica-reinforced woofer and rear Power Port. Clean off-axis directivity and smooth treble matching the measured Polk Signature Elite ES15 and Polk Signature Elite ES20 siblings, with integrated keyhole slots for flexible wall mounting.

Cons: Rating estimated based on measured Signature Elite siblings. Compact 4-inch enclosure limits bass extension below 75Hz, requiring high-pass crossover integration with an active subwoofer for balanced full-range listening.
