Audio Smile Little British Monitor vs Genelec G One

Last updated: October 11, 2026

Short answer: the Audio Smile Little British Monitor. It ranks #1 of 47 powered bookshelf speakers by sound quality (rated 4.6/5); the Genelec G One ranks #5 (rated 4.4/5).

Audio Smile Little British Monitor vs Genelec G One

What the Audio Smile Little British Monitor does well: Among the strongest measured tonal performers in this size class: ASR’s Klippel data gives a 5.46 predicted preference score, or 8.21 with an ideal subwoofer. It keeps a wired aux input, which the Genelec G One lacks. The catch: Bass reaches -3dB at about 72Hz, so a subwoofer is important for the lowest notes.

Why pick the Genelec G One: The smallest model in Genelec’s home G Series, built on the same 3” woofer, metal-dome tweeter and Directivity Control Waveguide as the Genelec 8010A studio monitor, in a die-cast aluminum cabinet. The catch: No independent measurements yet, so its tonal balance and directivity can’t be compared directly with measured speakers; the rating is estimated from the measured Genelec 8010A it is based on.

Buy the Audio Smile Little British Monitor. It is rated higher for sound quality than the Genelec G One.

Worth knowing: the Genelec G One has not been measured yet. Its rating is estimated from related models, with a likely range of 4.1 to 4.6, so treat this verdict as provisional.

Pros: Among the strongest measured tonal performers in this size class: ASR’s Klippel data gives a 5.46 predicted preference score, or 8.21 with an ideal subwoofer. Low narrow-band response deviations on-axis and across the listening window support clear, relatively uncolored vocals and instruments. Broad horizontal coverage makes small changes of listening position less critical. Active DSP crossover and a very compact cabinet suit close desktop listening. Measured bass extension of 71.8Hz (-3dB).

Cons: Bass reaches -3dB at about 72Hz, so a subwoofer is important for the lowest notes. The measured response still spans 3.3dB from 300Hz to 5kHz; the small average-deviation statistic should not be mistaken for an almost perfectly flat response. Small drivers limit the intended application to nearfield listening, and the preference score does not establish maximum clean output. Its 50W Class A/B amplifiers and narrow ±1dB treble trim leave little headroom or adjustment next to larger active monitors.

Genelec G One ranking card

Same family: the Genelec G Two (larger bookshelf, rated 4.3/5), the Genelec G Three (larger bookshelf, estimated 4.5/5), the Genelec G Four (larger bookshelf, estimated 4.2/5) and the Genelec G Five (larger bookshelf, estimated 4.3/5).

Pros: The smallest model in Genelec’s home G Series, built on the same 3” woofer, metal-dome tweeter and Directivity Control Waveguide as the Genelec 8010A studio monitor, in a die-cast aluminum cabinet. The waveguide keeps the treble consistent off axis, so it sounds balanced on a desk even when you aren’t sitting dead center. Each speaker has its own 25W bass and 25W treble amplifiers, an RCA input, auto standby and an Iso-Pod stand that tilts it toward your ears.

Cons: No independent measurements yet, so its tonal balance and directivity can’t be compared directly with measured speakers; the rating is estimated from the measured Genelec 8010A it is based on. Bass stops at 74Hz (±2.5dB), so music and movies need a subwoofer for any real low end, and output is limited to 96dB short-term, enough for a desk but not a living room.
