Medium Size Powered Bookshelf Speakers
Ranked #12 of 105 in Medium Size Powered Bookshelf Speakers - Topping MA4: $378 per pair Amazon Audiophonics eBay
Pros: The selected manufacturer-supplied Klippel data shows a 1.6dB span from 300Hz to 5kHz, bass reaching -3dB around 50Hz, and preference scores of 5.64 standalone and 7.83 with an ideal subwoofer. That is strong measured tonal performance for a compact monitor. Its analog crossover and balanced XLR connection suit an existing audio interface. Measured bass extension of 49.8Hz (-3dB).
Cons: The native listening-window response is not as smooth as the leading Genelec and Neumann measurements. No USB, Bluetooth or built-in room-correction DSP: source control and correction need external equipment. Bass extension alone does not establish clean output capability. On-axis narrow-band deviation measures 0.503dB and listening-window smoothness a moderate 0.44.

DAC and Headphone Amp Combos
Ranked #4 of 43 in DAC and Headphone Amp Combos - Topping DX5 II: $299.00 Amazon eBay
Pros: Audio Science Review measured a SINAD of 122 dB, so its noise and distortion are inaudible. A rated 6.4 W into 32 ohms and 990 mW into 300 ohms is enough for nearly any headphone, through 6.35 mm, 4.4 mm and 4 pin XLR outputs. It adds a 10 band parametric EQ, Bluetooth with LDAC and aptX Adaptive, and RCA and XLR line outputs, matching the rating of the SMSL DO400 for less.
Cons: The Topping DX1 II shares its rating for well under half the price and still delivers about 1 W into 32 ohms, which is plenty for most headphones. Its full size chassis takes more desk space than compact all in ones.

Ranked #6 of 43 in DAC and Headphone Amp Combos - Topping DX1 II: $119.00 Amazon eBay
Pros: Audio Science Review measured a SINAD of 121 dB, so its noise and distortion are inaudible. A rated 1,000 mW into 32 ohms from the 4.4 mm balanced output handles most planar magnetic headphones, and a 10-band parametric EQ and a 3.5 mm headset jack with mic support are included. It rates the same as the D&A Alpha Pro for a fraction of the cost.
Cons: Inputs are limited to USB-C and optical, with no coaxial or Bluetooth. Its 230 mW into 300 ohms is modest beside the Topping DX5 II, which rates the same with far more power but costs more. No volume knob is listed.

Ranked #7 of 43 in DAC and Headphone Amp Combos - Topping G5: $299.00 Amazon eBay
Pros: Audio Science Review measured a SINAD of 120 dB, so its noise and distortion are inaudible. A rated 1,200 mW into 32 ohms is unusual for a battery unit and handles most planars, with 3.5 mm and 4.4 mm balanced outputs. It runs about 9 hours on USB, 10 on Bluetooth with LDAC and aptX Adaptive, and 25 as an analog amp, and weighs 265 g.
Cons: Its 175 mW into 300 ohms limits headroom with high-impedance headphones. The Topping DX1 II rates the same and measures slightly cleaner for much less, though it is not portable. At 140 mm long and 18 mm thick, it suits a bag better than a pocket.

Pros: Audio Science Review measured a SINAD of 117 dB, so its noise and distortion are inaudible. Topping rates it at 1,800 mW into 32 ohms, enough for most planar magnetic headphones, and it accepts USB, optical, coaxial and Bluetooth with SBC, AAC, aptX, aptX LL, aptX HD and LDAC, plus an RCA line output.
Cons: There is no balanced headphone output, only a 6.35 mm jack. The Topping DX5 II rates higher, measured cleaner and is rated at far more balanced power for a bit more.

Headphone Amplifiers
Ranked #1 of 19 in Headphone Amplifiers - Topping A30 Pro: $349.99 HiFiGo eBay
Pros: Audio Science Review measured 121 dB SINAD, so its noise and distortion are inaudible. Topping rates it at 5,500 mW into 32 ohms and 840 mW into 300 ohms, enough power for nearly any headphone, with 6.35 mm, 4-pin XLR and 4.4 mm balanced outputs plus RCA and XLR inputs. Pass-through outputs let it sit in a chain ahead of speakers.
Cons: It is an analog only amp with no USB or other digital input, so you need a separate DAC. The Topping A50 III rates the same with the same measured SINAD for less.

Pros: Audio Science Review measured a SINAD of 121 dB, so its noise and distortion are inaudible. A rated 3.5 W into 32 ohms and 760 mW into 300 ohms from its balanced output is enough for nearly any headphone. It has 6.35 mm and 4.4 mm balanced outputs and costs less than the Schiit Midgard at the same rating.
Cons: It is an amp only, so you need a separate DAC. Its balanced input uses 6.35 mm TRS rather than XLR, and there are no line outputs for passing the signal on to speakers.

Ranked #7 of 19 in Headphone Amplifiers - Topping L30: $149.00 Apos Audio eBay
Pros: Audio Science Review measured 121 dB SINAD, so its noise and distortion are inaudible. A rated 2.3 W into 32 ohms and 280 mW into 300 ohms drive nearly any headphone, including planar magnetic and high impedance models. It also has RCA preamp outputs and a compact footprint.
Cons: It has only RCA analog inputs, so you need a separate DAC. There is no balanced headphone output, and the only jack is 6.35 mm. The JDS Labs Atom Amp 2 earns the same rating and publishes more power for less.

Ranked #8 of 19 in Headphone Amplifiers - Topping L50: $169.00 Amazon eBay
Pros: Audio Science Review measured a SINAD of 121 dB, so the amp adds no audible noise or distortion. A rated 2,800 mW into 32 ohms and 540 mW into 300 ohms is enough for nearly any headphone, including demanding planar magnetic and high impedance models. It offers a 4-pin XLR balanced headphone output and accepts balanced 6.35 mm TRS or RCA inputs.
Cons: It has no DAC, so it needs a separate source with line outputs. The Topping A50 III rates slightly higher with more rated power for a little more, and the passthrough outputs only work while the amp is switched off.

Ranked #6 of 30 in DACs - Topping D70 Pro SABRE: $599.00 Amazon eBay
Pros: Audio Science Review measured a SINAD of 123 dB, among the cleanest results available, so its noise and distortion are inaudible. It feeds powered speakers or an amp via RCA or balanced XLR, with a volume knob for direct control. Inputs include USB, optical, coaxial, AES and Bluetooth with LDAC, aptX Adaptive, aptX HD and AAC, and it costs less than the SMSL RAW Pro-DAC1 with the same SINAD.
Cons: The SMSL D-6S rates the same for far less, so the extra cost mostly buys inputs and features rather than audible gains. At 222 mm wide and 1,050 g, it needs a full-size spot on the desk or rack.

Pros: Audio Science Review measured a SINAD of 112 dB, so it is clean for nearly all listening. It takes USB from a computer and feeds an amplifier or powered speakers over RCA, and it can also pass the signal on through coaxial or optical outputs to another device.
Cons: USB is the only input, so it cannot accept a TV, console or CD transport over optical or coaxial. It has no balanced outputs and no volume control, and the SMSL PS200 PRO rates higher and measured cleaner for less.
