JBL Partybox 520 vs Teufel Rockster Neo

Last updated: October 10, 2026

These are not really the same size class, and that is the honest framing here. The JBL Partybox 520 ranks #8 of 13 large party speakers by sound quality at $879.95; the Teufel Rockster Neo ranks #4 of 15 battery-powered PA speakers by sound quality at $807.72.

JBL Partybox 520 vs Teufel Rockster Neo

Why pick the JBL Partybox 520: JBL’s biggest battery-powered PartyBox after the 720 combines very high output, deep chesty bass, wheels and a telescoping handle with a capable app EQ, lights, USB-C audio and mic/instrument inputs. It has an adjustable EQ, which the Teufel Rockster Neo lacks. Watch for: It is very large and heavy, Bluetooth latency is high for video, and its front-facing design loses much of the mids and treble to people off to the sides.

The Teufel Rockster Neo is the longer-running choice. Similar tuning to the other Teufel speakers: pretty good, but not top of class. It is rated for 36 hours of battery against 15 for the JBL Partybox 520. It supports AAC Bluetooth, which the JBL Partybox 520 lacks. Watch for: Not quite as good sounding as the JBL Partybox 330 or Electro-Voice Everse 12.

Buy the JBL Partybox 520 at $879.95 if you want a large party speaker. Buy the Teufel Rockster Neo at $807.72 if you want a battery-powered PA speaker instead.

Pros: JBL’s biggest battery-powered PartyBox after the 720 combines very high output, deep chesty bass, wheels and a telescoping handle with a capable app EQ, lights, USB-C audio and mic/instrument inputs. RTINGS finds it loud enough for backyards and unusually well-equipped for a battery party speaker.

Cons: It is very large and heavy, Bluetooth latency is high for video, and its front-facing design loses much of the mids and treble to people off to the sides. The bass-heavy default can also make dialogue less clear without EQ.
