Short answer: the Partybox 520, and it’s also the cheaper one. It ranks #8 of 13 large party speakers at $879.95; the Rockster ranks #9 at €950 and, per our notes, is only available in Europe. The Teufel Rockster is discontinued; its replacement is the Teufel Rockster 2.
The Rockster’s case is being the loudest battery-powered speaker on the site, with deeper bass than the Soundboks 2 and 3. It’s also extremely heavy and not easy to carry, with no stereo mode.
The Partybox 520 is JBL’s second-biggest battery-powered speaker, after the Partybox 720, with the same handle-and-wheels convenience and lightshow ability as the rest of the Partybox line.
Buy the Partybox 520 if you’re outside Europe or want it now. Buy the Rockster only if you’re in Europe and specifically want the outright loudest option.
Battery life favors the Teufel Rockster: rated for 30 hours against 15 hours for the JBL Partybox 520.
There is a real gap in water resistance: the JBL Partybox 520 at IPX4 (splashing) against the Teufel Rockster, which has no water resistance.
