Devialet Mania vs JBL Xtreme 2

The Devialet Mania is the deeper-bass pick. Small, nice looking. Its bass reaches about 47Hz before falling 10dB, against 54Hz for the JBL Xtreme 2. The tradeoff: Not very loud.

The JBL Xtreme 2 is the longer-running, tougher choice. Four drivers with refined bass balance, closer to studio monitors than typical portables. It is rated for 15 hours of battery against 10 for the Devialet Mania. It is rated IPX7 against IPX4 for the Devialet Mania. Pros: Small, nice looking. Measured bass extension of 47Hz (-10dB).

Cons: Not very loud. Extremely high price. Bass boosted. Tweeters are not aimed at you and there’s a huge treble rolloff off-axis as compared to the Beoplay P6 in the comparison video. Only 10 hours of battery. Oluv didn’t like the upper mids or treble (mentioned on his Patreon)
