Short answer: the Turtlebox Ranger, if you are buying new. The Tribit Stormbox Pro ranks higher than it (#46 vs #65 of 166 medium speakers, 3.7/5 vs 3.5/5) but is discontinued, so only consider it used; the Turtlebox Ranger is still sold new at $250. The Tribit Stormbox Pro’s replacement, the Tribit Stormbox Max, is still sold new.
The case for the Turtlebox Ranger: Smoother frequency response than the other Turtlebox speakers. It links with other speakers (Turtlebox Party Mode), which the Tribit Stormbox Pro cannot. The tradeoff: Bass sounds kind of thuddy and isn’t as deep as higher ranked speakers.
The Tribit Stormbox Pro is the longer-running option. 24 hour battery life (60% volume, XBass off); doubles as a power bank. It is rated for 24 hours of battery against 12 for the Turtlebox Ranger. It keeps a wired aux input, which the Turtlebox Ranger lacks. It has an adjustable EQ, which the Turtlebox Ranger lacks. The catch: Bottom woofer was fixed in a later firmware, upgrade for best sound.
Buy the Turtlebox Ranger if you want one new; the Tribit Stormbox Pro is discontinued, so only look for it used.

Newer model: the Tribit Stormbox Max, estimated 3.8/5, released Sep 2026. It adds party mode and AAC, but drops aptX. Water resistance goes from IPX7 to IP68. See every Tribit Stormbox generation.
