The Tribit Stormbox Micro 2 is the deeper-bass, lighter choice. Best in class sound. Its bass reaches about 65Hz before falling 10dB, against 85Hz for the Tribit Stormbox Mini. At 0.7 lbs (317 g) it weighs much less than the Tribit Stormbox Mini at 1.6 lbs (708 g). It has an adjustable EQ, which the Tribit Stormbox Mini lacks. Watch for: Finicky phone charging, which doesn’t usually work.

The case for the Tribit Stormbox Mini: IPX7 waterproof, excellent battery life (12 hours), RGB LED lighting, app support with AAC codec, true wireless stereo (TWS) capability, USB-C charging. It supports AAC Bluetooth, which the Tribit Stormbox Micro 2 lacks. It keeps a wired aux input, which the Tribit Stormbox Micro 2 lacks. It plays in stereo from a single unit, unlike the Tribit Stormbox Micro 2. The catch: Lacking quite a bit of bass.

One note: the Tribit Stormbox Mini is no longer in production and isn’t widely stocked new anymore. The Tribit Stormbox Mini’s replacement, the Tribit Stormbox Mini+, is still sold new.

Pros: Best in class sound. Much deeper bass than most other speakers in the size. Built in strap is super useful for attaching it to things. Very neutral. To have it aimed directly at you unclip the strap and the speaker will sit upright with a slight lean back. Measured bass extension of 65Hz (-10dB).

Cons: Finicky phone charging, which doesn’t usually work.

Setup: Use in Music EQ mode, when you switch to custom it’s not able to boost the bass properly as it is missing an EQ band that Music EQ mode uses
