DannyPops is #20 of 48 on our Speaker Reviewer Trust Rankings. Seems to be recording speakers off axis, always has the microphone above the speaker. Prefers speakers that are fun, rather than neutral. Doesn’t seem to notice the additional reverb echo added by Marshall speakers. Likely paid heavily by Marshall in the past and seems to have turned a new leaf, although it’s hard to tell if he’s looking for another paid manufacturer. Appears to now also review other tech products.

Small Size Portable Bluetooth Speakers
Ranked #1 of 47 in Small Size Portable Bluetooth Speakers - Tribit Stormbox Micro 2: $34.19 Aliexpress Amazon
Pros: Best in class sound. Much deeper bass than most other speakers in the size. Built in strap is super useful for attaching it to things. Very neutral. To have it aimed directly at you unclip the strap and the speaker will sit upright with a slight lean back.
Cons: Finicky phone charging, which doesn’t usually work.
Setup: Use in Music EQ mode, when you switch to custom it’s not able to boost the bass properly as it is missing an EQ band that Music EQ mode uses

Ranked #85 of 136 in Medium Size Portable Bluetooth Speakers - Ultimate Ears Wonderboom 3: $79.99 Amazon
Pros: IP67 rated, floats, and is rated to survive a 5 ft drop onto hard surfaces. 14 hour battery - longer than the Wonderboom 2.
Cons: Not stereo, barely any bass. Boosted 93hz upper bass. Cuts bass heavily at high volume. You can tell from the micro USB that they are just feeding you the same crap hardware over and over, this is inexcusable for a product released in 2022. Not technically a 360 speaker, only front and rear.

Ranked #31 of 77 in Large Size Portable Bluetooth Speakers - Marshall Middleton: $220.99 Amazon
Pros: Very deep bass for the size/weight.
Cons: 5db dip at 1.7khz and 6.3khz. 9khz treble peak. Not a very smooth frequency response. A lot of Marshall’s added dsp echo which cannot be turned off, very distracting and annoying. It’s like forcing you to listen to your music in an echo chamber. Bass is reasonably deep but artificial sounding and flabby, with no attack and no dynamics. Treble is rolled off.

Ranked #41 of 77 in Large Size Portable Bluetooth Speakers - Sony ULT Field 5: $198 Amazon
Pros: IP67 rated, dustproof and water resistant. 25 hour battery life. App with 10-band EQ. Party Connect with up to 100 speakers. USB-C in/out for charging your phone.
Cons: Bass not as deep as others in the category, and sound quality overall is just okay. ULT button makes a really loud tone when pressed. Just an okay speaker.

Pros: 20 hour battery life; 2.5 hour full charge, or 20-min quick-charge for 4 hours of play. 3-way speaker design covers full frequency range in 360°. Sturdy construction with IPX2 rating.
Cons: Not much lower bass, upper bass boomy, boosted treble, not very balanced overall. Not as loud as others in the class. Very low water rating

Large Party Size Portable Bluetooth Speakers
Ranked #11 of 11 in Large Party Size Portable Bluetooth Speakers - Marshall Bromley 750: $1,199.99 Amazon
Pros: Much wider, more consistent off-axis dispersion than the JBL Partybox 720, which only fires forward - the Marshall’s standout feature, sounding about the same from any angle.
Cons: Not as deep bass as the JBL Partybox 330 or JBL Partybox 720. Not a great frequency response overall, with some midrange peaks. Only basic bass/treble controls, no full custom EQ like the JBL Partybox 720’s app. Default bass (dynamic mode) is overdone out of the box and needs trimming.
