EarFun Uboom X vs Tronsmart Bang 2

Last updated: October 10, 2026

These are not really the same size class, and that is the honest framing here. The EarFun Uboom X ranks #1 of 91 boombox speakers by sound quality at $159.99; the Tronsmart Bang 2 ranks #53 of 103 large speakers by sound quality at $109.99.

EarFun Uboom X vs Tronsmart Bang 2

Why pick the EarFun Uboom X: Tuned by Oluv and he knocked it out of the park again. It supports AAC Bluetooth, which the Tronsmart Bang 2 lacks. The tradeoff: The out of the box 0.33 firmware and EQ sounds horrible.

The Tronsmart Bang 2 is the lighter option. At 5.8 lbs (2.63 kg) it weighs noticeably less than the EarFun Uboom X at 9 lbs (4.1 kg). The catch: Verdicts against the Soundcore Boom 2 and the Tribit Stormbox Lava were split: Dominik Reviews preferred the Soundcore Boom 2, and several listeners found the Bang 2’s mids muffled and its highs subdued without custom EQ.

One note: the EarFun Uboom X is discontinued, but it still ranks #1 of 91 boombox speakers by sound quality, ahead of most of what is still sold new, so it is worth considering used.

Buy the EarFun Uboom X at $159.99 if you want a boombox speaker. Buy the Tronsmart Bang 2 at $109.99 if you want a large speaker instead.

EarFun Uboom X: $159.99 Discontinued eBay

EarFun Uboom X ranking card

Pros: Tuned by Oluv and he knocked it out of the park again. Deeper bass than the Tribit Stormbox Blast. Extremely neutral, possibly the best of any modern Bluetooth speaker slightly behind the Vifa Helsinki. This is the only speaker that sounds correct at every single volume level due to Oluv’s individual EQ settings at each volume level. Other speakers will need a different EQ at each volume level. Amazing sounding at low levels as it boosts bass and treble at low levels to account for the equal-loudness contour. Just considering the midrange and treble, this speaker is better sounding than the EarFun Uboom L. Measured bass extension of ~38Hz (-10dB).

Cons: The out of the box 0.33 firmware and EQ sounds horrible. Some users have reported sound interruption issues when running two in TWS, though not on every source device, and disabling AAC resolves it where it occurs. Discontinued.

Setup: Please update it using the Earfun app (Android or iOS) and select an Oluv EQ. The Earfun app has sound profiles created by Oluv for Studio, Indoor, Indoor+, Outdoor, Outdoor+, BOOM xxX, and Ground 0 which are all fantastic. Oluv has a newer firmware pack that brings it up a few more notches of neutral

Tronsmart Bang 2: $109.99 Best Buy Tronsmart eBay

Tronsmart Bang 2 ranking card

Pros: In Jagist’s side by side tests, the Bang 2 (after its firmware update) was picked over the Soundcore Boom 2 and over the JBL Xtreme 5, which distorted at high volume, and it kept its bass above 40% volume where the Tribit Stormbox Lava fell apart. Listeners also mostly preferred it to the JBL Xtreme 4. A racetrack woofer, two tweeters and two passive radiators are rated for 90W and 105dB. Tronsmart rates the battery at 26 hours at half volume with the lights off, and it adds IPX6 water resistance, a handle plus a detachable shoulder strap, app EQ, light effects, stereo and multi-speaker pairing, aux, TF card and USB playback, and a USB-C power bank.

Cons: Verdicts against the Soundcore Boom 2 and the Tribit Stormbox Lava were split: Dominik Reviews preferred the Soundcore Boom 2, and several listeners found the Bang 2’s mids muffled and its highs subdued without custom EQ. Next to the Tronsmart Fiitune X30 it turned into a jumble of sound near full volume, and the EarFun Uboom X clearly beat it. It needed a firmware update to sound its best, and at 2.63 kg it is heavy for its size.
