Tribit Stormbox Lava vs W-King H330

Last updated: October 10, 2026

These are not really the same size class, and that is the honest framing here. The Tribit Stormbox Lava ranks #3 of 103 large speakers by sound quality at $100; the W-King H330 ranks #32 of 91 boombox speakers by sound quality at $119.99.

Tribit Stormbox Lava vs W-King H330

The Tribit Stormbox Lava is the longer-running, lighter choice. A powerful, IP67-rated portable speaker with a measured 44Hz -10dB bass point, 10-band app EQ, aux input and 24-hour claimed battery life. It is rated for 24 hours of battery against 9 for the W-King H330. At 5.2 lbs (2.37 kg) it weighs much less than the W-King H330 at 9.9 lbs (4.5 kg). Watch for: XBass can make the low end muddy and obscure vocals, while the deepest notes lose authority and clarity falls at maximum volume.

Why pick the W-King H330: In Jagist’s side by side tests it was picked over the JBL Xtreme 5, came very close to the Harman Kardon Go + Play 3 with cleaner vocals, and sounded clearer and more balanced than the Tronsmart Fiitune X30. The catch: It isn’t very loud, and the W-King X20S plays louder with punchier bass.

Buy the Tribit Stormbox Lava ($100) for a large speaker; the W-King H330 ($119.99) suits a boombox speaker instead.

Tribit Stormbox Lava ranking card

Pros: A powerful, IP67-rated portable speaker with a measured 44Hz -10dB bass point, 10-band app EQ, aux input and 24-hour claimed battery life. Independent reviews find that it gets loud with impactful bass, and careful EQ or current firmware can produce relatively clean sound through the mids and highs. Measured bass extension of 44Hz (-10dB).

Cons: XBass can make the low end muddy and obscure vocals, while the deepest notes lose authority and clarity falls at maximum volume. It is heavy for its size, its front-facing design has a narrow soundstage, and one review noted a brief sound interruption while changing volume.

Setup: Update the firmware to version 2 or later first, since version 2 was a big step up in sound quality. Then try out the Alan Ross EQ’s at this timestamp in his video. There’s also a max bass EQ from Oluv and you can turn down the lowest slider for it to be more neutral.

W-King H330 ranking card

Pros: In Jagist’s side by side tests it was picked over the JBL Xtreme 5, came very close to the Harman Kardon Go + Play 3 with cleaner vocals, and sounded clearer and more balanced than the Tronsmart Fiitune X30. A 5.5 inch woofer, two 2.5 inch tweeters and a down firing passive radiator give it deep, full bass for its size. A 50Wh battery with 45W USB-C fast charging (about 1.8 hours), Bluetooth 5.4, stereo pairing, a bass boost button, aux, TF card and USB playback, and ambient lighting.

Cons: It isn’t very loud, and the W-King X20S plays louder with punchier bass. Below about 20% volume its DSP makes the bass cut in and out. The factory tuning is V shaped: Storytripper HD found the vocals thin and dry next to the fuller JBL Authentics 300, and the mids can sound recessed. No handle, no app, no water resistance rating, and W-King rates the battery at about 9 hours at 70% volume.
