Tribit Stormbox Blast vs Soundboks 4

Last updated: October 10, 2026

These are not really the same size class, and that is the honest framing here. The Tribit Stormbox Blast ranks #2 of 91 boombox speakers by sound quality at $199.99; the Soundboks 4 ranks #9 of 15 battery-powered PA speakers by sound quality at $1,199.

Tribit Stormbox Blast vs Soundboks 4

The Tribit Stormbox Blast is the deeper-bass, tougher choice. Amazing speaker given its size, competes well with some speakers in the Party size class, bass almost as deep as a JBL Partybox 100. Its bass reaches about 43Hz before falling 10dB, against 52Hz for the Soundboks 4. It is rated IPX7 against IP65 for the Soundboks 4. Watch for: Lacks a bit of detail compared to the top ranked speakers in other size categories, dip at 5.5kHz.

The Soundboks 4 is the longer-running pick. Tied for the loudest battery powered speaker. It is rated for 40 hours of battery against 30 for the Tribit Stormbox Blast. It has a microphone input for karaoke or announcements, which the Tribit Stormbox Blast lacks. It links with other speakers (TeamUp, up to 5 speakers), which the Tribit Stormbox Blast cannot. Watch for: Not as neutral or as deep of bass as the above Partyboxes.

Buy the Tribit Stormbox Blast ($199.99) for a boombox speaker; the Soundboks 4 ($1,199) suits a battery-powered PA speaker instead.

Tribit Stormbox Blast ranking card

Newer model: the Tribit Stormbox Blast 2, ranked lower, rated 3.8/5, released Oct 2024. It adds AAC. See every Tribit Stormbox generation.

Same family: the Tribit Stormbox Micro 2 (smaller model, rated 4.5/5), the Tribit Stormbox Flow (smaller model, rated 3.5/5) and the Tribit Stormbox Pro (smaller model, rated 3.7/5).

Pros: Amazing speaker given its size, competes well with some speakers in the Party size class, bass almost as deep as a JBL Partybox 100. Quite neutral in the default and xbass modes, but try Oluv’s EQ or Alan Ross’s EQ for a slightly more neutral sound. Oluv has mentioned v3.5 now uses his EQ as the defaults and sounds extremely good. 2 different light modes or can be turned off. Measured bass extension of 43Hz (-10dB).

Cons: Lacks a bit of detail compared to the top ranked speakers in other size categories, dip at 5.5kHz. Without the above EQ this speaker would rank around #4 in the rankings. The curved underside of the handle makes it a little harder to grip and can be uncomfortable to carry long distances.
