Last updated: October 10, 2026

Different classes, so treat this as a step-up-or-not question rather than a head-to-head. The Tribit Stormbox Blast ranks #2 of 91 boombox speakers by sound quality at $199.99; the Audiocase S5 ranks #26 of 46 party speakers by sound quality at $645.

Tribit Stormbox Blast vs Audiocase S5

The Tribit Stormbox Blast is the lighter, tougher pick. Amazing speaker given its size, competes well with some speakers in the Party size class, bass almost as deep as a JBL Partybox 100. At 12 lbs (5.45 kg) it weighs noticeably less than the Audiocase S5 at 17.4 lbs (7.9 kg). It is rated IPX7, while the Audiocase S5 has no water resistance. It has an adjustable EQ, which the Audiocase S5 lacks. The catch: Lacks a bit of detail compared to the top ranked speakers in other size categories, dip at 5.5kHz.

The case for the Audiocase S5: The battery is removable. It supports aptX Bluetooth, which the Tribit Stormbox Blast lacks. It has a microphone input for karaoke or announcements, which the Tribit Stormbox Blast lacks. It links with other speakers (wired link), which the Tribit Stormbox Blast cannot.

Worth knowing: the Audiocase S5 has been discontinued and is hard to find new at this point.

Buy the Tribit Stormbox Blast at $199.99 if you want a boombox speaker. Buy the Audiocase S5 at $645 if you want a party speaker instead.

Newer model: the Tribit Stormbox Blast 2, ranked lower, rated 3.8/5, released Oct 2024. It adds AAC. See every Tribit Stormbox generation.

Same family: the Tribit Stormbox Micro 2 (smaller model, rated 4.5/5), the Tribit Stormbox Flow (smaller model, rated 3.5/5) and the Tribit Stormbox Pro (smaller model, rated 3.7/5).

Pros: Amazing speaker given its size, competes well with some speakers in the Party size class, bass almost as deep as a JBL Partybox 100. Quite neutral in the default and xbass modes, but try Oluv’s EQ or Alan Ross’s EQ for a slightly more neutral sound. Oluv has mentioned v3.5 now uses his EQ as the defaults and sounds extremely good. 2 different light modes or can be turned off. Measured bass extension of 43Hz (-10dB).

Cons: Lacks a bit of detail compared to the top ranked speakers in other size categories, dip at 5.5kHz. Without the above EQ this speaker would rank around #4 in the rankings. The curved underside of the handle makes it a little harder to grip and can be uncomfortable to carry long distances.
