JBL Partybox 100 vs Braven XXL 2

Last updated: October 10, 2026

These sit in different size classes, so this is not a straight ranking comparison. The JBL Partybox 100 ranks #8 of 46 party speakers by sound quality at $499.99; the Braven XXL 2 ranks #81 of 91 boombox speakers by sound quality at $350.

JBL Partybox 100 vs Braven XXL 2

Why pick the JBL Partybox 100: Quite neutral sound, pretty deep bass. The tradeoff: A slight peak in the upper mids.

The Braven XXL 2 is the longer-running, tougher choice. 18 hour battery life; USB-A port charges your phone 4 times over. It is rated for 18 hours of battery against 12 for the JBL Partybox 100. It is rated IPX5, while the JBL Partybox 100 has no water resistance. The catch: Not very deep bass.

Worth knowing: the JBL Partybox 100 is discontinued, though it still ranks #8 of 46 party speakers by sound quality, so a used unit beats most of what is still sold new. The JBL Partybox 100’s replacement, the JBL Partybox Club 120, is rated 4.5/5 at $349.95.

Buy the JBL Partybox 100 at $499.99 if you want a party speaker. Buy the Braven XXL 2 at $350 if you want a boombox speaker instead.
