Short answer: the JBL Partybox 130. It ranks #7 of 53 party speakers against the Partybox 100’s #8, and it costs less while remaining in production. The JBL Partybox 100 is discontinued; its replacement is the JBL Partybox Club 120. If you are buying new, get the JBL Partybox Club 120.
Sound quality is close, with different tradeoffs on each side. The Partybox 100’s notes describe quite neutral sound with pretty deep bass, but call out a slight peak in the upper mids and a slight TWS delay issue between paired units. The Partybox 130’s notes also call its sound quite neutral, but flag it as boomier and less clear than the smaller Partybox 120, alongside a high asking price.
What the Partybox 130 adds:
- A handle and wheels, described in its own notes as genuinely convenient for moving it.
- An IPX4 water resistance rating, where the Partybox 100 has no rating at all.
- Auracast party mode pairing, which the Partybox 100 lacks.
- More rated output, 200W against the Partybox 100’s 160W, plus a longer 15 hour battery estimate versus 12 hours.
Buy the JBL Partybox 130 for the higher rank, lower price, added water resistance, and wheeled portability, especially since the Partybox 100 is no longer sold new.
Buy the JBL Partybox 100 only if you find a discounted or used unit and don’t need wheels, water resistance, or Auracast pairing.
If water resistance matters to you, the JBL Partybox 130 at IPX4 (splashing) holds up far better than the JBL Partybox 100 at no water resistance.
