Soundcore Mini 2 vs Ultimate Ears Wonderboom 3

Last updated: October 10, 2026

Different classes, so treat this as a step-up-or-not question rather than a head-to-head. The Soundcore Mini 2 ranks #28 of 59 small speakers by sound quality; the Ultimate Ears Wonderboom 3 ranks #107 of 166 medium speakers by sound quality at $79.99.

Soundcore Mini 2 vs Ultimate Ears Wonderboom 3

The Soundcore Mini 2 is the lighter pick. In side-by-side tests it had clearly more bass than the JBL Go 3 and came close to the far pricier Ultimate Ears Wonderboom 3 at moderate volume. At 0.5 lbs (207 g) it weighs much less than the Ultimate Ears Wonderboom 3 at 0.9 lbs (420 g). It keeps a wired aux input, which the Ultimate Ears Wonderboom 3 lacks. The catch: A lab test by Fnac measured only 72dB at 10 percent distortion, bass starting around 100Hz and treble falling from 5kHz, and it vibrates and turns boomy at full volume.

What the Ultimate Ears Wonderboom 3 does well: IP67 rated, floats, and is rated to survive a 5 ft drop onto hard surfaces. The catch: Not stereo, barely any bass.

Worth knowing: the Soundcore Mini 2 is discontinued, though it still ranks #28 of 59 small speakers by sound quality, so a used unit beats most of what is still sold new.

Buy the Soundcore Mini 2 if you want a small speaker. Buy the Ultimate Ears Wonderboom 3 if you want a medium speaker instead.

Ultimate Ears Wonderboom 3 ranking card

Newer model: the Ultimate Ears Wonderboom 4, ranked higher, rated 2.9/5, released Jun 2024.

Older models: the Ultimate Ears Wonderboom 2 (ranked lower, rated 2.9/5) and the Ultimate Ears Wonderboom (ranked lower, rated 2.9/5). See every Ultimate Ears Wonderboom, Boom and Megaboom generation.

Pros: IP67 rated, floats, and is rated to survive a 5 ft drop onto hard surfaces. 14 hour battery: longer than the Ultimate Ears Wonderboom 2. Measured bass extension of 76Hz (-10dB).

Cons: Not stereo, barely any bass. Boosted 93Hz upper bass. Cuts bass heavily at high volume. You can tell from the micro USB that they are just feeding you the same crap hardware over and over, this is inexcusable for a product released in 2022. Not technically a 360 speaker, only front and rear.
