Short answer: the Soundcore Mini. It ranks #13 of 59 small speakers by sound quality (rated 3.8/5) at $29.99 and is still sold new; the Soundcore Mini 2 ranks #28 (rated 3.3/5) and is discontinued, so it is only an option used.
The Soundcore Mini is the better-sounding option. It also has an FM tuner and microSD playback. The catch: Bass does not reach as deep as higher-ranked speakers.
The Soundcore Mini 2 is the tougher pick. In side-by-side tests it had clearly more bass than the JBL Go 3 and came close to the far pricier Ultimate Ears Wonderboom 3 at moderate volume. It is rated IPX7, while the Soundcore Mini has no water resistance. The tradeoff: A lab test by Fnac measured only 72dB at 10 percent distortion, bass starting around 100Hz and treble falling from 5kHz, and it vibrates and turns boomy at full volume.
Buy the Soundcore Mini. It is rated higher for sound quality; the Soundcore Mini 2 is no longer sold new.
