Short answer: the Stormbox Micro 2, and it’s the class leader. It ranks #1 of 62 small speakers at $35.39; the Soundcore Mini ranks #13 at $39.99, $4.60 less.
The Soundcore Mini has real features for the price: an FM tuner, aux input, and microSD support. Our notes note it isn’t quite as deep in bass as higher-ranked speakers and has no waterproofing at all.
The Micro 2 is described as best in class, with much deeper bass than most speakers its size and a genuinely neutral tuning, plus a built-in strap that doubles as a stand.
Buy the Stormbox Micro 2 for the class-leading sound. Buy the Soundcore Mini if the FM tuner and aux input specifically matter to you and $4.60 is a real constraint.
If water resistance matters to you, the Tribit Stormbox Micro 2 at IP67 (brief submersion) holds up far better than the Soundcore Mini at no water resistance.
