Pros: This bar spreads sound wide and high enough to feel like a much bigger system, so movies wrap around the room without rear speakers. Dialogue is crisp and detailed, which What Hi-Fi praised in a five-star review. Audio Advice heard a clear step up over the Sony bar it replaces, with bass that stays tight rather than boomy. Room calibration, AirPlay 2 and an HDMI passthrough round out a capable all-in-one.

Cons: Bass is controlled but limited, so action films lack weight until you add one of Sony’s optional subs. Music can sound clinical, and Andrew Robinson preferred the Samsung HW-Q990F and Sonos Arc Ultra for overall sound. There is no optical input for older TVs.
