Pros: The Arc Ultra fills a living room with clear, well-placed sound from a single bar, and dialogue stays easy to follow with adjustable speech enhancement. Its built-in woofer gives noticeably fuller bass than older Sonos bars, so movies have real weight without a separate sub. In The Hook Up eight-system premium shootout it was named the best living room soundbar, beaten overall only by the Nakamichi Dragon and its 12 inch sub. Trueplay tuning, Bluetooth and later add-on rears or sub make it easy to grow.

Cons: It cannot decode DTS:X, so Blu-ray discs with DTS tracks fall back to a simpler mix. There is no HDMI input, so everything must run through the TV. Chromecast and Google Assistant are missing, which matters if your home runs on Google.
