Bose S1 Pro+ vs Soundboks 2

Last updated: September 14, 2026

Short answer: choose the Bose S1 Pro+ for a current, compact speaker with a useful mixer; consider the Soundboks 2 only when its much greater claimed outdoor output is the decisive need and you accept the risks of a discontinued used model. The Bose is a 6.5kg portable PA; the Soundboks is a 15kg three-way battery speaker with two 10-inch woofers and a claimed 124dB maximum SPL.

Bose S1 Pro+ vs Soundboks 2

The Soundboks 2 is about raw outdoor volume. Its removable battery is rated for up to 40 hours, and its two combo mic or instrument inputs make it workable for informal performances as well as parties. It is also stereo. However, it has no weather rating, app EQ, multi-speaker mode, or TWS pairing, and its tonal balance and bass depth are less refined than stronger modern party speakers. Because it is discontinued, battery condition, charging hardware, and support availability are part of the purchase decision.

The Bose is the more polished small-event tool. Its lighter cabinet, multi-position design, Auto EQ, two combo inputs, line input, tone controls, reverb, and optional wireless transmitters suit a presenter or performer who values setup speed. It is not weather resistant and becomes strained with full-range music at high volume, so it cannot provide the Soundboks’ outdoor scale.

Buy the Bose S1 Pro+ for a lighter, current, mixer-equipped portable PA with more refined small-event usability.

Buy the Soundboks 2 only for a used, high-output outdoor speaker when its large drivers and long removable-battery runtime outweigh the discontinued-model compromises.

Buy the Soundboks 2. It ranks higher for sound quality than the Bose S1 Pro+ and costs less, so the other one has nothing left to offer.

Battery life favors the Soundboks 2: rated for 40 hours against 11 hours for the Bose S1 Pro+.

Bose S1 Pro+ ranking card

Pros: Extremely compact and light with flexible placement options. Full sound with no lack of low-end output, crystal-clear audio quality. Three-channel mixer (2 XLR/quarter-inch combo mic-instrument + 1 line/Bluetooth), each with its own OLED display for quick treble/bass/reverb adjustment. Auto EQ adjusts sound based on orientation. Multiple angled surfaces for various positioning including tilted portrait mode, plus a line out to daisy-chain a second unit. Optional WT-XLR/WT-INST wireless transmitters dock, pair, and charge right in the speaker for a cable-free mic or instrument. Up to 11 hours battery life. Professional build quality. High efficiency drivers reach 2-3x the volume of typical speakers for the same wattage. Measured bass extension of 55Hz (-10dB).

Cons: With full range music, it becomes distorted above ⅔ volume, and reviewers describe it as screeching at max volume. Better suited for voice amplification. Not as much deep bass as the Everse 8, midrange sounds reasonably balanced. Treble is pretty boosted. Not stereo. Designed for more loudness than deeper bass. Ports are fully exposed with no water resistance. Charges via a less common three-prong AC cable instead of the two-prong barrel cable most rivals use.

Soundboks 2 ranking card

Pros: Built for maximum outdoor output: its two 10-inch woofers and silk-dome tweeter reach a claimed 124dB, while the removable battery is rated for up to 40 hours. It also provides aux, microphone and guitar inputs, making it a practical battery-powered option for loud parties and informal performances.

Cons: At 15kg it is large to transport, lacks weather protection, app EQ and TWS stereo pairing, and relies on an external charging arrangement. Its tonal balance and bass depth are less refined than stronger modern party speakers, and this discontinued model requires caution around used-battery condition and support. Discontinued.
