Short answer: the Bose S1 Pro+ if you want the most portable, professionally built option with a real onboard mixer; the Rockster Air 2 if you want more battery life and a lower price. These rank #5 and #6 out of 16 party-size speakers, at $499.99 and $699, with the Bose costing $199.01 more.
The S1 Pro is built more like professional PA gear in miniature. At 6.5 kg (14.3 lbs) it’s under half the Rockster Air 2’s weight, and it packs a genuine three-channel mixer - two mic/line channels plus a line/Bluetooth channel - along with auto-EQ that adjusts based on how it’s oriented, useful if you’re switching between upright and tilted-monitor placement. Our own notes rate its build quality highly and call the vocal reproduction crystal clear.
That refinement comes with real trade-offs at volume. The S1 Pro’s own notes say full-range music starts distorting above about two-thirds volume, and it has less deep bass than Electro-Voice’s Everse 8 - it’s better suited to voice amplification than as a music-first party speaker. It’s also discontinued, so it’s a secondary-market buy at this point.
The Rockster Air 2 is the bigger, longer-running, cheaper option. Its 58-hour battery dwarfs the S1 Pro’s 11, its larger 10” woofer gives it more low-end headroom for music, and it costs noticeably less. Both take XLR input for real microphones and instruments, and neither carries an IP rating.
Buy the S1 Pro if you want the more portable, professionally finished speaker with a built-in mixer, mainly for voice or moderate-volume use. Buy the Rockster Air 2 if you want to actually push music loud and not worry about battery for days.
