Short answer: the Everse 8 if you want a genuinely portable, extremely efficient PA speaker and don’t mind the price; the Rockster Air 2 if runtime and cost matter more than carrying it around. These rank #5 and #3 out of 14 party-size speakers, at $499.99 and $799, with the Everse 8 costing $299.01 more.
Weight is the biggest practical difference. The Everse 8 is just 8 kg (17.6 lbs) against the Rockster Air 2’s 14.15 kg (31.2 lbs) - nearly half - while still carrying a 400W rating and the same high-efficiency compression-driver design our notes credit with reaching 2-3x the volume of a typical speaker at the same wattage. That’s a lot of output for something you can actually carry one-handed.
The Rockster Air 2 counters with battery life and price. 58 hours against the Everse 8’s 12, at roughly 60% of the cost. Both take XLR-level line and microphone input for real gear, and both link wirelessly with more units for wider coverage - Speaker Link on the Everse 8, Party Link on the Rockster Air 2 - though only the Everse 8 has an app with EQ.
Neither prioritizes deep bass. The Everse 8’s own notes say it’s tuned for loudness over low end, and the same is true of the Rockster Air 2 - this is a choice between a lighter, pricier PA speaker and a heavier, cheaper one that lasts far longer between charges.
Buy the Everse 8 if portability and efficient loudness matter more than price. Buy the Rockster Air 2 if you’d rather spend less and not think about charging it for days.
If water resistance matters to you, the Electro-Voice Everse 8 at IP43 (light spray) holds up far better than the Teufel Rockster Air 2 at no water resistance.

Teufel Rockster Air 2: $499.99 Amazon eBay
Older model: the Teufel Rockster Air (ranked lower, rated 3.4/5).
Pros: More consistent off-axis sound than the JBL Partybox 130, thanks to its single horn-loaded compression driver. Projects sound more evenly to the sides, unlike the JBL’s narrower front-firing dispersion. Cleaner instrument separation at high volume than the JBL Partybox 130, which turns anemic and loses bass at max volume despite its bass boost.
Cons: Bass isn’t as deep as the JBL Partybox 130’s boosted bass, though the JBL’s is boomy rather than truly deep. Bass and treble aren’t perfectly controlled at maximum volume - can sound hollow or too bright unless turned down from default. Not meaningfully louder than its 3-year-old predecessor, and the reviewer found the overall tuning a bit worse.
