Short answer: choose the Electro-Voice Everse 8 for the more capable outdoor and higher-output battery PA; choose the Bose S1 Pro+ when the smaller cabinet, flexible placement, and Bose’s three-channel mixer matter more. Both are compact battery-powered speakers with app control, XLR-capable inputs, EQ, and a claimed 12-hour-or-less class of battery life, but the Everse is much more purpose-built for demanding PA work.
The Everse 8 is the stronger choice for output and weather exposure. It has a 400W amplifier, a published 121dB maximum-SPL claim, IP43 protection, a removable battery, USB-C power output, and a 100° by 100° coverage pattern. Its four-channel mixer includes EQ, effects, and ducking, and its 8-inch woofer is intended to deliver more low-end weight than the Bose. It weighs 17.6 lbs (8 kg), so it is still portable, but it is less convenient to carry than the 14.3 lbs (6.5 kg) Bose.
The Bose is the more compact performer and presenter tool. Its multi-position enclosure and Auto EQ help it adapt to a floor, stand, or tilted placement. Two XLR or quarter-inch combo inputs, per-channel OLED controls, reverb, and optional docked wireless transmitters make it unusually self-contained for speech or acoustic performance. The compromise is no water resistance, a lower 109dB published maximum-SPL figure, and full-range music that can become distorted above roughly two-thirds volume.
Buy the Electro-Voice Everse 8 for outdoor events, higher claimed output, weather resistance, battery swapping, and a more complete PA mixer.
Buy the Bose S1 Pro+ for the lighter cabinet, flexible placement, and a compact mic or instrument setup where portability takes priority over outdoor durability and maximum level.
Buy the Electro-Voice Everse 8. It is rated higher for sound quality, and the $100 saving on the Bose S1 Pro+ is not enough to make up the difference.

The Two Speakers In Full
Bose S1 Pro+: $699.00 Amazon eBay
Older model: the Bose S1 Pro (ranked lower, rated 4/5). See every Bose S1 Pro generation.
Pros: Extremely compact and light with flexible placement options, and very loud for its size. Three-channel mixer (2 XLR/quarter-inch combo mic-instrument + 1 line/Bluetooth), each with its own OLED display for quick treble/bass/reverb adjustment. Auto EQ adjusts sound based on orientation. Multiple angled surfaces for various positioning including tilted portrait mode, plus a line out to daisy-chain a second unit. Optional WT-XLR/WT-INST wireless transmitters dock, pair, and charge right in the speaker for a cable-free mic or instrument. Up to 11 hours battery life. High efficiency drivers reach 2-3x the volume of typical speakers for the same wattage. Measured bass extension of 62Hz (-3dB).
Cons: Leans toward a bright sound signature, and its bass bottoms out as the volume rises, so full range music suffers well before maximum loudness. Better suited for voice and instrument amplification than for casual music listening. Treble is pretty boosted. Not stereo. Designed for more loudness than deeper bass. Ports are fully exposed with no water resistance. Charges via a less common three-prong AC cable instead of the two-prong barrel cable most rivals use.
