Short answer: the Everse 12 if raw loudness and pro sound quality at volume are the priority and the price isn’t a concern; the Rockster Air 2 if you want most of the XLR-input flexibility for under half the cost. These rank #5 and #1 out of 14 party-size speakers, at $499.99 and $1,099, with the Everse 12 costing $599.01 more.
The Everse 12 is built specifically to be loud without falling apart. Our own notes call it the best-sounding extremely loud speaker we’ve covered, and its high-efficiency compression driver reaches 2-3x the volume of a typical speaker at the same wattage - backed by a 400W rating and a 126dB max SPL spec well beyond the Rockster Air 2’s 80W. The two speakers weigh almost exactly the same, so that extra output isn’t coming from bulk.
The Rockster Air 2 wins on runtime and price. Its 58-hour battery rating is nearly 5x the Everse 12’s 12-plus hours, and it costs less than half as much. Both carry XLR inputs for real microphones and line-level gear, and both link with additional units for bigger coverage - Speaker Link on the Everse 12, Party Link on the Rockster Air 2 - though the Everse 12 also adds an app with EQ that the Rockster Air 2 doesn’t have.
Neither is a bass speaker first. The Everse 12’s own notes say it’s designed for loudness over deep bass, and the Rockster Air 2 isn’t a deep-bass speaker either - this comparison is really about how much output you need and how much you’re willing to pay for it.
Buy the Everse 12 if you need genuine PA-level loudness and can justify the price. Buy the Rockster Air 2 if you want usable XLR inputs and all-day battery life without spending Everse money.
There is a real gap in water resistance: the Electro-Voice Everse 12 at IP43 (light spray) against the Teufel Rockster Air 2, which has no water resistance.

Teufel Rockster Air 2: $499.99 Amazon eBay
Older model: the Teufel Rockster Air (ranked lower, rated 3.4/5).
Pros: More consistent off-axis sound than the JBL Partybox 130, thanks to its single horn-loaded compression driver. Projects sound more evenly to the sides, unlike the JBL’s narrower front-firing dispersion. Cleaner instrument separation at high volume than the JBL Partybox 130, which turns anemic and loses bass at max volume despite its bass boost.
Cons: Bass isn’t as deep as the JBL Partybox 130’s boosted bass, though the JBL’s is boomy rather than truly deep. Bass and treble aren’t perfectly controlled at maximum volume - can sound hollow or too bright unless turned down from default. Not meaningfully louder than its 3-year-old predecessor, and the reviewer found the overall tuning a bit worse.
