#131 Paradigm Defiance V12: $513.44 Discontinued eBay
Newer model: the Paradigm Defiance S12, ranked higher, estimated 3.8/5, released 2025. See every Paradigm Defiance generation.
Same family: the Paradigm Defiance V8 (smaller subwoofer, estimated 3.2/5), the Paradigm Defiance V10 (smaller subwoofer, ranked lower, estimated 3.4/5), the Paradigm Defiance X10 (larger subwoofer, ranked higher, rated 3.7/5), the Paradigm Defiance X12 (larger subwoofer, ranked higher, rated 4.1/5) and the Paradigm Defiance X15 (larger subwoofer, rated 4.2/5).
Pros: A 12 inch ported subwoofer with app control, room correction and an optional wireless module, now discontinued. It has a front-firing 12 inch woofer rated 23 to 200Hz within 3dB, driven by a 120W RMS Class D amplifier. Measured output averages 111.2dB from 40 to 80Hz and reaches 100.1dB at 25Hz, enough for a medium room. The smartphone app handles control and room correction, with an optional calibrated microphone. An optional Bluetooth WT module adds wireless connection.
Cons: Output is modest for a 12 inch sub, with 111.2dB averaged from 40 to 80Hz, so a large room may need more. It weighs 19.1 kg and measures about 45 cm in each direction, which takes real floor space. Wireless needs an extra module. It is discontinued, so it has to be bought used, and the successor is the Paradigm Defiance S12.
