The Velodyne’s 12-inch sealed driver reaches 111.1dB CEA-2010-A average, second only to the pricier SVS SB-1000 PRO among compact subwoofers, though that small sealed driver limits extension below 20 Hz and its compact size is 9.5 kg (20.9 lbs). The Paradigm fills rooms with tight, ample, powerful bass while retaining the speed and control of a sealed design. The Paradigm Defiance V12 has been replaced by the Paradigm Defiance S12.
Buy the Paradigm Defiance V12 or the Velodyne Acoustics SPL-1200 Series II, whichever you find used in better condition; both are discontinued. For a new speaker, start with the Edifier T5s instead.
