The Velodyne actually measures louder at the very bottom, with 95.2dB at 20Hz and 100.1dB at 25Hz against 91.0dB and 97.7dB for the SVS, so if your priority is the lowest few octaves rather than mid-bass slam, the Velodyne holds its own.
