Short answer: the ELAC IW-S10EQ in-wall, if you are buying new. The Onkyo SKW-204 ranks higher than it (#3 vs #27 of 73 subwoofers, 3.8/5 vs 3.4/5) but is discontinued, so only consider it used; the ELAC IW-S10EQ in-wall is still sold new at $2,199.
Why pick the ELAC IW-S10EQ in-wall: A 10 inch in-wall subwoofer with adjustable EQ for a flush install where a floor cabinet will not fit. The catch: Requires in-wall installation, limited output vs standalone cabinets, and space constraints for placement.
The Onkyo SKW-204 is the better-sounding pick. A discontinued ported 10 inch subwoofer with strong upper bass punch for movies and music at a budget price. The tradeoff: Deep-bass output is more limited than the strong 40-80 Hz result suggests, so it is not the right choice when the lowest movie effects are the priority.
Buy the ELAC IW-S10EQ in-wall new; the Onkyo SKW-204 is no longer sold new, so it only makes sense as a used find.
