Short answer: the SVS 3000 Micro, if you are buying new. The Onkyo SKW-204 ranks higher than it (#3 vs #6 of 73 subwoofers, 3.8/5 vs 3.7/5) but is discontinued, so only consider it used; the SVS 3000 Micro is still sold new at $799.
Why pick the SVS 3000 Micro: A tiny sealed subwoofer with two opposing 8 inch drivers, small enough to tuck beside furniture while adding upper bass weight. Watch for: Deep-bass output is more limited than the strong 40-80 Hz result suggests, so it is not the right choice when the lowest movie effects are the priority.
What the Onkyo SKW-204 does well: A discontinued ported 10 inch subwoofer with strong upper bass punch for movies and music at a budget price. The catch: Deep-bass output is more limited than the strong 40-80 Hz result suggests, so it is not the right choice when the lowest movie effects are the priority.
Buy the SVS 3000 Micro, since the Onkyo SKW-204 is discontinued and only worth hunting down used.
