What this page covers. The Tannoy models ranked here span passive speakers, including Tannoy Revolution XT 6 and Tannoy System 600. Use each model’s category position to compare it with alternatives of the same size and use case.
This page lists all 2 Tannoy speakers ranked on this site across passive speakers. Each model is shown in the category where it competes, with its current rank and the size of that ranking.
Use the category position rather than the brand name alone: speakers from the same manufacturer can perform very differently by size, price and product family.

Large Size Bookshelf Speakers
Ranked #116 of 131 in Large Size Bookshelf Speakers - Tannoy Revolution XT 6: $1100 eBay
Pros: Horizontal directivity is very good outside of a narrow glitch around 2.5kHz, meaning the coaxial design’s off-axis sound closely tracks on-axis within a +/-50 degree toe-in window. Vertical response is notably better than a typical non-coaxial 2-way thanks to the concentric driver, and the downward-firing, base-integrated port is a distinctive, functional piece of industrial design.
Cons: CEA2034 spinorama shows significant on-axis dips and rising amplitude above 3kHz, and distortion measurements are the headline problem - 4-5% distortion at 96dB SPL in the most sensitive part of the audible band, far higher than the Revel M106 comparison unit at the same level. Careful multi-notch EQ improved things but never fully resolved it. The reviewer’s conclusion: “I can’t recommend the Tannoy XT 6” - the coaxial design’s distortion should have been addressed by the designer, not patched after the fact with EQ.

Large Size Bookshelf Speakers
Ranked #127 of 131 in Large Size Bookshelf Speakers - Tannoy System 600: $400 Discontinued eBay
Pros: Impedance is well controlled, and the concentric dual-driver layout gives it consistent horizontal and vertical response relative to typical non-coaxial 2-ways of its era.
Cons: CEA2034 spinorama shows a large suck-out right at the crossover frequency where the two drivers fail to overlap properly, plus general peaking beforehand - the reviewer noted “no measurement seems to have been used to optimize this design.” Predicted in-room response is correspondingly poor. Amir ran out of time to perform a dedicated subjective listening test on this unit, but concluded from the data alone that it is “highly colored and really not something you want to put in your system.” Long discontinued; used-market only. Discontinued.
