Same family: the JBL HDI-1600 (bookshelf, rated 4.2/5), the JBL HDI-3600 (smaller floorstanding, rated 4.3/5), the JBL HDI-3800 (larger floorstanding, rated 4.5/5) and the JBL HDI-4500 (center, rated 3.7/5).

Pros: A compact 12 inch subwoofer with a powerful amp, low distortion and adjustable crossover and phase for easy blending, now discontinued. It pairs a 12 inch high-excursion driver with a 1000W RMS amplifier in a dual-ported cabinet rated 28 to 150Hz. Measured output averages 117.2dB from 40 to 80Hz and reaches 119.1dB at 50Hz, enough for a large room. Distortion is rated under 1 percent down to the tuning frequency. The crossover adjusts from 50 to 150Hz and there is a single-band parametric EQ.

Cons: Output drops quickly below the port tuning, to 93.2dB at 25Hz against 109.5dB at 31.5Hz, so the deepest effects are limited. At 32.1 kg and roughly 43 cm on each side it is heavy and bulky. It has no app or automatic room correction, only manual controls. It is discontinued, so it has to be bought used.
