The HSU Research ULS-15 MK2 is the better-sounding choice. A sealed 15 inch subwoofer with tight, accurate bass, a great value in large subs. The tradeoff: No phone app or room correction, so setup is manual, and it ships in a plain vinyl finish where a similarly priced SVS offers gloss black.
The case for the JBL HDI-1200P: A compact 12 inch subwoofer with a powerful amp, low distortion and adjustable crossover and phase for easy blending, now discontinued. The tradeoff: Output drops quickly below the port tuning, to 93.2dB at 25Hz against 109.5dB at 31.5Hz, so the deepest effects are limited.
Buy the HSU Research ULS-15 MK2. It is rated higher for sound quality and still sold new, while the JBL HDI-1200P is discontinued.
