Brand: Genelec
#113 Genelec 7071A: $4,995 Discontinued eBay
Newer model: the Genelec 7380A, ranked lower, estimated 3.9/5, released Sep 2017. It replaces the dual 12-inch design with a single 15-inch driver and adds GLM room calibration and an AES/EBU digital input. See every Genelec 7000 and 7300 Subwoofers generation.
Same family: the Genelec 7070A (smaller subwoofer, ranked lower, rated 3.6/5).
Pros: A pro studio subwoofer with dual 12 inch drivers and balanced XLR inputs for large rooms, now discontinued. Independent CEA-2010 testing records 106.6 dB at 20 Hz and 118.0 dB through 40-80 Hz. The ported, bottom enclosure with 2x 12” (305mm) driver has the headroom for demanding film bass in a large room.
Cons: The 754.9H x 802.9W x 490.0D mm cabinet and 81.0 kg mass make this a serious placement and moving commitment. Ported output does not solve room modes, so careful placement and calibration remain essential. Discontinued.
