#164 Emotiva X-Ref 12: $999 Discontinued eBay
Older model: the Emotiva Ultra 12 (ranked lower, rated 3.3/5). See every Emotiva Ultra and X-Ref generation.
Same family: the Emotiva X-Ref 10 (smaller subwoofer, ranked lower, estimated 3/5).
Pros: A sealed 12 inch subwoofer with built in EQ, an LCD screen and balanced inputs, now discontinued. It has a 600W RMS amplifier driving a 12-inch sealed driver, rated for 20 to 200Hz. Measured output averages 109.8dB from 40 to 80Hz and reaches 111.5dB at 63Hz. A 2-band parametric EQ and DSP let you tune it to the room, and it has XLR with a daisy-chain output plus RCA inputs.
Cons: Sealed output drops steadily below 40Hz, reaching 92.5dB at 25Hz and 84.0dB at 20Hz, so it is not suited to the deepest movie effects. At 396.7H x 371.3W x 393.7D mm and 20.0 kg it is moderately large and heavy for a 12-inch sub. It is discontinued, so it must be found used.
